Contact lenses
From exam to fitting to follow-up
A contact lens exam adds measurements of the front of the eye to a regular exam. A fitting follows.
- 01
Step 1: The exam
A regular eye exam, plus measurements of the surface of the eye.
- 02
Step 2: The fitting
The doctor chooses a lens type and size, and you try a pair in the office.
- 03
Step 3: A teaching visit
We show you or your child how to insert, remove and care for lenses. Children come with a parent.
- 04
Step 4: Trial lenses
You wear a trial pair for a week or two to see how they feel.
- 05
Step 5: The follow-up
The doctor checks the fit and your eyes. The prescription is finalized once the fitting is complete.
For myopia
Dual-focus daily lenses
Dual-focus daily soft lenses are FDA-approved for myopia control in children 8 to 12 at the start. Results vary, and a child has to be ready to handle lenses. The doctor decides with you and your child.

Your prescription is yours
Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy of your contact lens prescription once your fitting is complete, and you can fill it anywhere.
A fitting is billed separately from an exam. How fees work explains how.
