Questions
What families ask
Do we need an exam if my child sees fine?
Yes. Children rarely say their vision has changed, and myopia often starts quietly.
How often should a child come in?
Every year or two for a routine exam, and about every six months while myopia is being managed.
Do you work with my vision plan?
We work with many vision plans and medical plans. Call to confirm yours, since only your plan can promise coverage.
Why was part of the visit billed to medical insurance?
A visit for an eye problem, or a follow-up such as a myopia visit, is billed to medical insurance. A routine exam is billed to a vision plan. How fees work has the detail.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours, and you can fill it anywhere.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes, once your fitting is complete.
What do I bring to the visit?
Current glasses and contact lenses, a list of medicines and your insurance cards.
How much will it cost?
It depends on your plan and the services you choose. We explain what each part costs before you decide, and How fees work shows how.
What is an eye emergency?
Sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash needs care now. Call us or go to the nearest emergency room. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Which myopia option should we choose?
There is no single answer. The doctor explains each option, its FDA status and the evidence, and results vary.
