How fees work
Insurance we work with
A routine eye exam is billed to a vision plan. A visit for an eye problem or a follow-up, which includes myopia visits, is billed to medical insurance. Many visits mix both, and Ben explains which part goes where. Coverage for myopia-control lenses and drops varies by plan, so we check before you decide. Medicare does not cover routine eye exams or glasses, with a few exceptions.

Medical insurance, for myopia visits and eye health follow-ups
Medicare, within its limits for eye care
If you pay yourself
Self-pay covers the exam and the services you ask for. Fitting visits, myopia-control lenses and drops, lens coatings and replacement lenses are billed separately. We tell you what each part costs before you decide, and we do not quote a price over the phone as a promise.

Receipts for reimbursement
Ask for an itemized receipt at the front desk and send it to your plan. Your plan decides what it reimburses, and we can print one for each visit in a family.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, we give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing before the visit. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it.
Your rights under the No Surprises ActChecking your benefits
Before a first visit, the office checks your benefits where it can and tells you what we found. Please confirm with your plan too, since only the plan can promise coverage.
What the first visit includes
A first myopia evaluation takes about an hour. It includes the exam, measurements of both eyes and a talk with the doctor about the options. It is billed once the visit is done, and we explain the charges before you leave.

A talk about each option
A written plan for the next visit
Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere.
